Monk of the Soto Zen school, Jesus Reigosa reflects in wood situations that are usually minimal and humble, but which reflect the here and now. A perfect connoisseur of the art of carving, he uses figurative realism in small doses as a gateway to a primordial void, which is what he really wants to show. We also find in his work a strong presence of the haiku (Japanese short poem) and calligraphy, to show movement, especially of water, in an effort to find the “aware” or emotional moment of clarity and understanding. His pieces are windows, references, that lead us to a meditative mood.
