It all began one summer in Formentera when Miquel drew a lizard from spilt coffee using a spoon as a brush. Some years later he decided to take on a new challenge and convert his drawings into three-dimensional beings, using the technique of assemblage with old utensils as well as moulds and unused wood and metal objects.
Since then, he has produced several hundred sculptures of all kinds of animals, from a life-size elephant to small insects. Miquel Aparici does not copy an animal from a photograph but creates it from his memory. The result is a group of animals that invoke ingenuity and humour.
His work has been shown internationally in Spain, Germany, Italy and the US.
In Barcelona, studio visits can be easily arranged.
